I just received a letter saying that my very delinquent debt from one hospital stay (yes, one) is $4,000, and it will be sent to the SC Department of Revenue. I had no health insurance at the time, and the bills piled up fast. They are threatening to take the money out of my tax refunds. This all because I spent one night in the hospital. Just one night.

People, this healthcare reform is desperately needed. How DARE those naysayers criticize a program that will provide insurance for EVERYONE? I assume they can all comfortably afford their medical bills, right? I assume of they have certain health conditions that cost them many dollars a month due to prescriptions and routine appointment.

I suffer from bipolar disorder, and I pay $100 for my meds and $200 for therapy a month. When I see my psychiatrist, I pay her $125…for a half hour. Why? Because those who are mentally ill tend to get the short end of the stick when it comes to healthcare benefits. My does not cover most of my mental health needs. I make very little money from my freelance jobs, and my new job pays just $7.25 an hour.

Case in point, please support Obama’s plan. Quit thinking of the government as evil and quit with these damn TEA parties. Obama knows who comes first: The people, We as the people were deprived of so much during the last eight years. Every United States citizen has a RIGHT to healthcare coverage. It is time for this healthcare-as-a-privilege-and-it’s-cheap-only-through-your-employer-if-you’re-lucky-to-get-it shit to stop. You never know when your health will be compromised. If that happens, at least someone’s got your back.

So, what type of nerd am I? I’m thinkin’ both geek and nerd. Results presented in Venn diagram format. Any dweeb, nerd, or geek will know what that is.

Intelligence? I am so smart. S-M-R-T.

Obsession? Not really an obsession, but I’ve always been a HUGE fan of the Final Fantasy series of video games.

Social Ineptitude? At times. It’s gotten MUCH better, though.

Me: I wake up (duh) somewhere between 5:30 and 7:00am.

After fighting the beckoning of my pillow to lie back down on it and subsequently doze off, I get on my iPhone and check out Facebook, Twitter, and random Internet stuff while I’m still in bed. Basically, doing something that requires at least minimal brain work will jump-start your body’s urge to git on up.

Really, do that for no more than 30 minutes (you have to have a phone with all that shit on it), again while still in your bed, and I guarantee you’ll actually get out of bed without going back to sleep first (cheater). Then you won’t feel like crapola because you jumped out of bed 10 minutes before you’re supposed to leave for work because you went back to sleep instead of Facebook-itizing, Twitterfying, and surfing the Internet on your phone.

Seriously, follow my little routine, and you’ll forget that you’re going through this process for the sole purpose of actually waking up. Finally, of course, get your ass out of bed (unless you’ve become engrossed in some Mafia Wars).
